Educational Outreach at Rice evolved as a natural outgrowth of the research, teaching, and service of our faculty, who understand the benefits of sharing and testing the latest knowledge in their fields both with educators and private sector managers.

Rice's Vision for the Second Century calls for the university to "fully engage with the city of Houston - learning from it and contributing to it - as a successful partnership with our home city is an essential part of our future." Rice University Educational Outreach programs are organized into six categories:

• K-12 Teacher Professional Development
• K-12 Student-Focused Programs
• Community Outreach 
• Higher Education Outreach
• Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies
• Education Outreach Resources 
   

Rice University's outreach efforts directly or indirectly affect approximately 7,000 K-12 teachers and 100,000 students, throughout Houston and across the state. Rice Students - both undergraduate and graduate - also benefit through the opportunity to convey their knowledge and, in the process, gain a deeper understanding of what they have learned at Rice.
